Der Wald ist ein vertrauter Ort. Diese Bilder zeigen ihn in einem Zustand, der sich jeder eindeutigen Einordnung entzieht, weder Nacht noch Tag, weder dokumentarisch noch eindeutig erfunden. Die Atmosphäre kippt ins Bedrohliche, ins Apokalyptische, und doch bleibt unklar, was genau diese Wirkung erzeugt. Es stellt sich die Frage, wie viel einer Aufnahme geglaubt werden darf und wo die Grenze zwischen Aufzeichnung und Konstruktion verläuft. Was zu sehen ist, muss nicht das sein, was war.

The forest is a familiar place. These images show it in a state that resists any clear categorisation, neither night nor day, neither documentary nor clearly invented. The atmosphere tips into something threatening, something apocalyptic, and yet it remains unclear what exactly produces this effect. The question arises of how much a photograph can be trusted, and where the boundary between record and construction lies. What is seen need not be what was.
